Overview

TISTA Science and Technology is seeking a skilled Quality and Validation Specialist that will perform quality control to ensure that the work performed is in accordance with contractual and organization guidelines.

Responsibilities
Investigate and adjudicate discrepancies between abstractions and re-abstractions to determine the "gold standard" answer. Determine and record the explanation(s) for the discrepancies and provide concise and well-written educational comments to the abstractors. Accurately enter collected data into PVT or other abstraction software using a personal computer, keyboard and/or mouse. Develop and maintain databases, files, and records pertaining to quality of work. Conduct analyses and prepare reports on the performance of the workforce. Maintain security and confidentiality of employee performance-related data. Follow all established processes and procedures. Solve problems with regard to unique record or process issues. Maintain security and confidentiality of medical records and Protected Health Information (PHI). Consistently meet or exceed expectations regarding quality and quantity of work established by the Company. Consistently meet attendance standards established by the Company. Interact appropriately with peers and other co-workers. Contribute to building a positive team spirit. Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

High school diploma or equivalent, plus additional technical training in the review of medical records.



WORK EXPERIENCE:

At least two (2) years experience in work involving hospital medical records review is required. Experience in quality control and/or assurance preferred. In addition, at least one (1) year of CDAC abstraction experience during which the individual has achieved above average data accuracy and productivity.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GroupWise and Internet Explorer preferred.

Ability to communicate information in writing so others will understand. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity. Ability to adapt to frequent changes in the abstraction and quality processes. Ability to work independently and maintain an elevated level of concentration. Capable of consistency, speed, and accuracy of task. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physician documentation.

The employee most often sits at a desk to perform the duties of this position. The employee regularly (up to 10 times per day) moves from desk to storage shelves to obtain/return medical records. The employee regularly (up to 10 times per day) bends, stoops, squats, or otherwise reaches to obtain/return medical records on upper and lower storage shelves, The employee regularly (up to 10 times per day) lifts, carries or otherwise moves records up to 20 pounds from the storage shelves to the desk. The employee regularly communicates with others by talking, hearing, or other means. The employee constantly and intensely uses close vision to read and interpret full text at 20 inches or less, both on paper and on a computer monitor.
