Job Description:
Job title: Senior System Administrator (VMWARE)
Clearance: Top Secret SSBI
Our client is seeking an experienced Sr. System Administrator to serve as part of a multidisciplinary team providing a wide-range of IT support services for classified/unclassified mission-critical military command networks. The successful candidate shall have demonstrated network and system administration and will possess extensive knowledge in the areas of VMware, ITIL-Foundation, and Information Assurance. This role will also serve as the Alternate Program Manager and should have demonstrated team management and government interface experience.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning and ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization
• Analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of systems and virtual infrastructure based on assessment of emerging state-of-the-art technologies
• Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups and patches
• Troubleshoot and quickly resolve complex infrastructure alerts and outages
• Conduct daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all networks, hardware, software, server resources, systems, specialized tools and key processes
• Assist systems administrators supporting desktop and server systems connected to local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN) including desktop system management functions
• Serve as the alternate corporate site lead responsible for coordinating client priority requirements and monitoring team performance in the absence of the Program Manager
Requirements:
• Three (3) years of direct relevant experience in performing systems administration support to military mission-critical command networks with experience in VMWare administration
• Experience in IT service management for designing, developing, and implementing service management best practices for the service lifecycle, business process modeling, IM/IT, network operations center, help desk operations, and telecommunications/information processing, IT networking (LAN/WAN), messaging services, configuration management, and maintenance support
• Comprehensive knowledge of VMware 6.0 or higher to include vCenter, vSphere, and ESX 6.x, vCloud Suite strongly desired
• Ability to configure and integrate storage devices (SAN, NAS) supporting VMware infrastructure
• Experience implementing security posture requirements and ensuring compliance with industry best practices, Department regulations, and STIGs
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field of study
• Information Assurance Technical Level II Certification (IAT-II) [CompTIA A+, CompTIA Security+. CCNA, CEH, CISSP]
• ITIL-Foundation v4 certification
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP-DCV) desired
