This position provides legislative analysis to OUSD(A&S) including legislative research and analysis on DOD programs, with focus on monitoring legislative impacts to OUSD(A&S) policies, programs, budget, and mission. Specific tasks include:
Monitoring the status of the National Defense Authorization Act and Defense Appropriations during the committee markups, floor action, and conference processes;Providing legislative updates to OUSD(A&S) leadership on relevant legislation and upcoming hearings;Applying knowledge of legislative activities and operations to review and edit all congressional correspondence;Supporting lifecycle hearing support for OUSD(A&S), other DOD components, and the interagency, to include the coordination of congressional hearing states, analyzing hearing proceedings, providing the hearing transcript to applicable OUSD(A&S) personnel, and coordinating the response to questions for the record (QFR) and inserts for the record (IFR) that emerge from hearings involving OUSD(A&S) witnesses or those with OUSD(A&S) equities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree plus at least 2 years' relevant Capitol Hill, government relations, or DoD experience.Active DOD Top Secret Clearance
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of legislative procedures and processes.Strong writing, task prioritization, and time management skills are required.Familiarity with OUSD(A&S) programs, mission, and structure and DoD organizational hierarchies.Ability to interact with senior leaders and present information in the form of written summaries and briefs.Ability to work in a high operational tempo under strict time constraints while managing multiple projects and customers.
Requires an active DOD Top Secret Clearance
