Responsible for identifying, developing and managing new and on-going strategic business opportunities for Intelsat, primarily for Defense Forces, their Prime Integrators, and select Civilian Government Agencies in the Asia Pacific region. Focus will be on Australia, New Zealand, and other regional countries, such the Philippines, South Korea, Japan & Indonesia. Responsibilities shall include both primary engagement with government personnel and support to regional Intelsat sales ensuring the develop of significant levels of revenue opportunity. This will be achieved by working on long term Defense Programs and ensuring that Civilian Government opportunities which emerge are targeted and executed. The Business Development Advisor is responsible for AsiaPAC region's Government segment assigned sales quota which will be achieved by working closely with the commercial AsiaPAC sales force whose countries will be nominated to develop. The position requires close collaboration with the Intelsat General Corporation and Intelsat Product Teams to develop and grow Intelsat's value proposition and establish Intelsat as a leading supplier of managed service and space-only solutions to the Defense and Civilian Government sectors.
This role includes coordination, tracking and reporting to company stakeholders on the activities of a small remote team of Global Government business development professionals. The position will assist with the setting of the goals and strategy for the Global Government team and will advocate for resources and support.
Hones a deep understanding of the organization's strengths and recognize opportunities through careful market and competitive analysis. Identifies and develops partner and end-user relationships as well as adapts opportunity strategies to changing conditions.

Are you up to the challenge?
Identify relevant Government programs through research, industry and relevant events, publications and announcements. Identify potential business partners and develop relationships. Screen potential business deals by analyzing the market strategies, the deal requirements, and the financials as well as by examining risks and potentials. Understand partners' capabilities and market/customer positioning. Lead the pursuit and support the proposal activities of approved opportunities. Establish and maintain effective relationships with current and new customers (both government and industry). Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential. Frequent customer visits which require domestic and international travel.

Update knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations. Work with other internal support staff to prepare proposals, rough order magnitude estimates and responses to customer requests for information. Day-to-day execution and status reporting of business development and marketing functions for new opportunities in the above markets. You should definitely have:
A Bachelor's Degree in a Technical or Business-related field At least 7 years of experience in Business Development with a strong background with Government/Industry Experience in operating within Australian military/government programs Demonstrated experience in leading new business capture activities as well as experience in leading development of government proposals Excellent English communication skills Experience in satellite communications or telecommunications sales. Specific experience in high-value, high-revenue, complex Military and Government projects with senior management level relationships within nominated customer base. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in multiple disciplines with a wide range of culture differences. Proven organizational skills and outstanding interpersonal and networking skills. Must have initiative, a drive to succeed and a proactive approach to addressing client issues.

Government recognized security clearances Experience in operating within U.S. and international allied governments - to include the U.S. DoD's Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program.
