Overview

VT Group is seeking Planner/Estimator (Submarines) located in

Responsibilities
Responsible for the creation of cost estimates with input from the Project Management team and Subject Matter Experts including: estimation of labor; equipment and material costs; develop statement of work for subcontract pricing; creation of technical proposals all from templates, historical documentation, or from initial creation. Provide estimating data for use by Project Controls and the Project Management team upon award.

Specific duties include:
Develop and maintain material lists for inclusion in ship's index drawings, updates, and produces cost and man-hour/day estimates and milestones/POA&M GANTT charts/critical path reports. Prepare cost and time estimates (time, labor, material and travel) for alteration and repair. Conduct thorough ship checks and site visits (when possible) with assigned Production personnel to identify detailed scope of work including interferences, as-found conditions, projected schedule, material, etc. Coordinate with Production, Quality Assurance, Purchasing, customers and vendors to develop and discuss estimated costs and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) for each task, RFQ, RFP or work package. Possess a thorough understanding of repair definition, production procedures, planning procedures, material requirements, adherence to technical instructions/directives and other similar experience in preparing contract specifications (bid specification). Be proficient in reading and interpreting Ship's Installation Drawings. Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFP) and Requests for Quote (RFQ) services, material and fabrication.

Qualifications
Eduation/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree (Business/Engineering); Associate Degree and one year of related work experience; or High School and three years experience of related work experience. Must have working knowledge of functional groups such as Finance, Contracts, Supply Chain, Quality, etc.. Demonstrated knowledge of Federal Government contracting including FAR and Labor Laws.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as Aptitude for mathematics and analytical thought processes. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and experience with MS Office applications and advanced working knowledge of MS Project and MS Excel.
Other:
Must be available to travel as required.
