Overview

VT Group is seeking a Systems Administrator 2 located in Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities
Provides a variety of technical and administrative network systems support to the company's IT Operations for assigned locations to include but not limited to: Microsoft Office 365 Administration, Intune Administration, Desktop/laptop Support; analyzing network needs; contributing to the design of network architecture, integration, and installation; evaluating network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and making recommendations; and performing equipment and equipment and software upgrades. Installs and maintains local area network hardware and software including servers, peripherals, network nodes, terminals, and wiring. Evaluates local area network hardware and software requirements and capabilities and makes recommendations; handles related site-specific needs as required Coordinates installation of hardware and software by others; coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services. Provides support to and trains users in local area network administration and usage of company email, conference bridge, cell phone setup, and standard PC utilization. Monitors and maintains network stability. Communicates and coordinates network schedule, backups, and downtime to users. Maintains a current asset inventory and asset assignment information. Coordinates third-party maintenance for network hardware, software, and telecommunications services Prepares and maintains documentation of network configurations and cabling layouts Provides a variety of technical and administrative systems support to users to include but not limited to: Servers/server backup Desktop computers and laptops Document centers and printers Routers and switches Firewalls, security updates, patches iPhones/Smartphones Troubleshoots and addresses and resolves problems related thereto. Provides a variety of technical and administrative telecommunications support (existing and emerging) to users to include but not limited to: Planning, recommending, and assisting in researching and recommending telecommunications equipment Coordinating the ordering and installation of telecommunications and data systems and cabling Creating and/modifying voicemail and call features Installing telecommunications equipment Troubleshoots and addresses and resolves problems related thereto. Provides support to company's human resources operations in areas such as: adding new users; supplying and setting up assets for employees; assigning and updating security permissions; implementing system access shut down pursuant to procedures; administering requested handling of voice mail and email, and the like. Depending on need, may be assigned the following site responsibilities: Backup and Recovery administration Monitors Regional file and data exports and backups Gathers Backup statistics and other scheduled maintenance tasks to improve performance Performs and documents regularly schedule data recovery exercises Backup and apply patch/technical support upgrades Installs patches, service packs and upgrades in the absence of the primary technician. Network and Systems Change Control Board Member Participates in change control meetings and documentation.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a related field with two (2) years of experience or a combination of education and experience in a secure environment configuring, managing, and trouble-shooting high-availability networks; relevant commercial experience a plus. Required to maintain and demonstrate knowledge of the following, Cisco Network Protocols like TCPIP, RIP and BGP, LAN administration fundamentals such as trace routing, Ping and monitoring tools, and UNIX and Windows based operating systems Network IOS and Software: Windows 2003/2008/2012/2016 Server, AccuBid, D-Tools, VPN Global Connect and SonicWALL NetExtender
Preferred Certifications:
Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), Network+, Security+, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a high level of technical knowledge pertaining to IT networks and related management and administration, Internet, e-mail systems, telecommunications and data communications, standard operating systems, software packages, and software utilities; proper records maintenance and documentation, and storage for local and distributed environments.
Other:
Ability to plan, design, and maintain data networks and servers. Familiarity with installations, configurations, and troubleshooting local area computer networks and associated assemblies. Language skills to read, comprehend, and interpret documents and procedure manuals to respond to user questions. Must possess detail orientation and ability to work in a fast paced work environment. Basic level analytical and creative problem solving skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Basic analytical ability to synthesize relatively complex or diverse information; collect and research data; utilize intuition and experience to complement data. Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develop alternative solutions. Interpersonal skills to work well with individuals and small and large groups, provide high quality customer service, and focus on solving conflict and remaining open to others' ideas. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to clients and staff. Ability to multi-task and handle multiply priorities simultaneously. Adept at planning and organizing and identifying priorities and changing same when appropriate. Ability to maintain and demonstrate knowledge of network protocols, LAN administration fundamentals, and UNIX and Windows-based operating systems.
