Responsibilities

The Environmental Engineer will track all spills from SURFLANT ships and ensure that Naval Messages are being generated, while communicating with U.S. Fleet Forces (USFF), NAVFAC and NAVSEA to determine root cause of spills and will initiate and track ISIC investigations when root cause of spills are not determined. The Environmental Engineer will track Oil Pollution Abatement (OPA) certifications for SURFLANT ships while working with the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC), Southeast Regional Maintenance Center (SERMC), NAVSEA and NSWC. The Environmental Engineer will grade out ships who are nominated for the CNO and CNSL Environmental awards and will work with N7 on ships that are eligible for the Battle E as it pertains to spills. The Environmental Engineer will attend Semi-annual Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation (EPEC) meetings at USFF with NAVSEA, NSWC, NAVFAC, AIRLANT and SUBLANT while representing CNSL to discuss environmental issues and address concerns and will coordinate with USFF and NAVFAC on the Semi-Annual Executive and Deck Plate Level Pier Side Compliance training to all SURFLANT ships at Norfolk, Mayport and Rota, Spain. The Environmental Engineer will attend annual meeting at CARDEROCK with USFF, NAVSEA, CNSP and NSWC to discuss environmental topics and courses associated with shipboard environmental concerns.

Qualifications

High School Diploma, Associate's Degree preferred Environmental and Safety Compliance Officer Certification Environmental Auditor Certification Experience in Navy OPA Certification and Spill Response High Degree of Tech skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint Experience using Navy and DoD travel processes and online systems and Naval Message writing software Detailed knowledge and expertise of Naval Admin and Correspondence policies, instructions and regulations
