Responsibilities
We provide Scientific, Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in Arlington, VA. For sixty years, DARPA has held to a singular and enduring mission: to make pivotal investments in breakthrough technologies for national security.

We have an immediate need for a Senior Systems Biologist/Bioengineer to support the Biological Technologies Office (BTO) in Arlington, VA. The Biologist will support the development and management of new and existing biomedical programs, respectively. The main priorities for the Senior Systems Biologist will be the development of biomedical devices that release drugs or other therapies that enable warfighters to adapt to austere environments (i.e., shifts in circadian rhythms, altitude, food quality, etc.) and enabling untrained operators to capture key medical information in the field with use of only handheld devices (e.g., ultrasound). Work will be performed onsite. Some travel associated with this position to performer sites and conferences.

Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance M.D. (Ph.D. preferred) in Biomedical Engineering, Systems Biology, Electrical Engineering or a related scientific field Proven ability to rapidly learn new fields with sufficient breadth of expertise to assess technologies across a range of applications Experience handling tasks ranging from generating science and technology advising to new program topics based on emerging technologies Willingness to readily handle tasks ranging from briefing support, creation of briefing materials, public presentation, scientific review analysis, and general administration Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following areas: biomedical engineering/systems biology machine learning synthetic biology ultrasond/medical imaging. DESIRED EXPERIENCE:
Excellent organizational skills, science communication experience, and program coordination Prior experience providing direct support to a DARPA Program Manager (or similar government agency) including the development of new start programs, the source selection process, and assessing performer/research progress towards program goals


One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to follow directions is a must. Applicants must be able to work well alone and as part of a team. A Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one will be required. U.S. Citizenship required.
