Summary
About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Responsibilities
Performs as instructor pilot, instrument flight examiner and pilot-in-command on Airborne Reconnaissance Low-Enhanced (ARL-E) DHC-8 (RO-6A) aircraft. Performs instructor pilot and instrument flight examiner duties. Performs as pilot-in-command on assigned missions. Performs preflight duties. Determines crew endurance status and performs risk analysis of the mission to be flown.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Two year trial/probationary period may be required. In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter. Must possess or be eligible for a Top Secret security clearance with access to special compartmented information (TS/SCI). Must possess and maintain current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commercial, multi-engine, instrument and DHC-8 type ratings. Must possess or be eligible for a "no fee" U.S. passport. Must possess, maintain and wear uniforms as prescribed by the unit which will provide initial issue and uniform allowance, as needed. At the time of initial appointment, must possess a current FAA Class 2 medical certificate for appointment consideration and annually thereafter. Satisfactory completion of an annual Aviation Proficiency and Readiness Test. Frequent travel is required, which will require overnight stays. Perform duties on a first 40-hour work schedule as directed by the supervisor to include working days, nights, weekends and holidays. All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management. Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel may be required 25% or less of the time.

Army DCIPS positions apply Veteran's Preference to preference eligible candidates as defined by Section 2108 of Title 5 U.S.C., in accordance with the procedures provided in DoD Instruction 1400.25, Volume 2005, DCIPS Employment and Placement.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Certificates and Ratings: To qualify, applicants must possess a current Commercial Pilot Certification or the appropriate military rating. For flight instructor positions, the FAA Flight Instructor Certificate or the military equivalent rating is also required. The pilot certificate must include the rating(s) appropriate to the work of the position to be filled. For example, a position that involves flying a multi-engine airplane to various destinations under instrument flight rules would require the Commercial Pilot Certificate with the airplane, multi-engine, and instrument ratings or appropriate U.S. military ratings. Candidates establishing eligibility based on military flight experience must provide official orders, forms, and/or logbooks showing their status as a rated military pilot, flight instructor, or flight examiner, as appropriate. Other certificates that meet or exceed the requirements of the Commercial Pilot Certificate are also acceptable, e.g., an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate. NOTE: You MUST submit a copy of both sides of your certificates and/or ratings for verification at the time of application. If establishing eligibility based on military flight experience, you must submit a copy of official orders, forms, and/or log books showing your status as a rated military pilot and flight instructor for verification.

Minimum Flight Hour Requirements: To qualify, applicants must meet the following minimum flight hour requirements. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your log books and/or flight logs for verification at the time of application):

- 1500 hours total flight time
- 250 hours pilot-in-command
- 75 hours night flying
- 100 hours flying time in the last 12 months
- 500 hours flying multi-engine airplanes (up to 250 hours flying heavy helicopters may be substituted)
- 75 hours of instrument flying (at least 10 hours must have been logged in actual instrument weather. The balance may have been acquired in a flight simulator or as other types of instrument flight time)
- 500 hours instructor flight time for for multi-engine airplanes (One-half of your instructor flight time must have involved instrument instruction).

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the specialized experience requirements listed below:

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience with operating, maintaining, analyzing and training design directly related to airplanes and aircrafts. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-12).
