The National Cryptologic School (NCS) employs the latest principles of adult learning to design, to develop, and to deliver classroom instruction using advanced technology and multimedia, as well as adapting blended classroom techniques in order to provide training to a worldwide workforce. Not surprisingly, our talented workforce is diverse and therefore, our training and facilities need to meet their needs. We have been working with the rest of the NSA to improve our accessibility posture to ensure that the NSA is a model employer for people with all ability levels. Description of Position:
This is a new technical leadership position in the National Cryptologic School. The selectee will
-serve as the champion for accessibility initiatives at the NCS;
-lead the development of the NCS's strategic plan related to accessibility, including developing milestones, and defining resources required to implement an enterprise solution that will ensure equal opportunity to access learning deliverables;
-serve as the resident expert on relevant academic and industry policies, technologies, and tools;
-represent the National Cryptologic School, as needed, in discussions related to accessibility;
-work closely with other technical professionals in each of the NCS colleges to ensure a common understanding and implementation of undertakings related to accessibility; and
oversee the Reasonable Accommodation Process in the NCS.
Description of Skills
This position requires an in-depth understanding of current policies and standards, as well as the ability to work within and across organizations at various levels. The ideal applicant should have in-depth knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act; Sections 501, 504, and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and the most current version of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). In addition, the successful candidate will have:
-expert knowledge of assistive technologies such as JAWS;
-a proven track record of incorporating successful solutions and/or identifying best practices in the accessibility arena;
-strong critical thinking skills, communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills.
