Job Description:

Candidate should have extensive experience with design, test, and troubleshooting Programmable Logic Control (PLC) based distribution control systems. Responsibilities include the development of hardware and software architecture for control systems. Assess/analyze current system health of controls and instrumentation and populate Facilities Long Range Strategic Plan based on findings. Create processes and procedures for control systems. Lead integration of instrumentation and controls in the development of a distribution control system. Manage controls projects within the given cost and time constraints. Works with various Facility Project Cells to support design and develop controls strategy for new projects. Strong project management and organizational skills are required. Ability to address technical, quality and business aspects of a project is essential. Ability to work independently and lead cross-functional teams in accomplishment of complex tasks is required.

Specific to this position:
Will need a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Electrical Control Systems. This candidate will be required to develop an effective teaming relationship with the System Operator, troubleshoot system problems, provide engineering resolutions for system problems/configuration changes, produce or oversee the development of technical documentation that govern the system design, configuration, and operation, develop a long range strategic plan for the system, participate in the development of planned maintenance requirements, support resolution of unplanned events, participate in project implementation process for system related projects, and oversee project/system testing to ensure system meets technical requirements and operates at peak performance. Position requires specialized skill and experience with specification and design of total controls package systems, relay interfaces, programmable logic controls (PLC), human machine interfaces (HMI), logic development, ability to program source codes, robotics/automation, and develop/review/update AUTOCAD drawings. Position requires specialized skill and experience with electrical control systems with complex machinery, equipment, ship support and building systems. Additional expertise required in Yardwide and Plant Operating Systems related to all aspects of manufacturing and process equipment. Position requires the ability to read and produce electrical schematics.

Plans, designs and oversees the reconfiguration, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, structures, and other facilities. Gathers and reviews data concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion date, and construction feasibility. Coordinates with architecture/engineering firms in developing design criteria and preparing layout and detail drawings. Prepares bid sheets and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition. Reviews and estimates design costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs. Inspects or directs the inspection of construction and installation progress to ensure conformance to established drawings, specifications, and schedules.
