Job Description:

Panum is looking for several IT Specialists to support an awarded contract we have with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agriculture Research Service (ARS) in Fort Collins, CO. The ARS requires contractor assistance for configuration, implementation, and repair of information technology systems involving desktops, laptop computers, printers, and hand-held system in coordination with Dell Support Services and other vendors as appropriate. In addition to these tasks, the contractor shall perform routine server maintenance, support of existing NAS appliances, and Tape Backup servers. These tasks will also include patch maintenance/monitoring and any urgent, ad hoc server troubleshooting required maintaining the network components operational.

Responsibilities

Installation and configuration of Windows 7 /8.1/10 operating systems on Dell and other branded workstations and laptops.
Software installation and software updates.
Troubleshooting Adobe programs, Office 2010/2013/2016 software suite (Access, Excel, Outlook Exchange, PowerPoint, and Word), and Symantec Products, etc.
Troubleshooting computer related hardware such printers, label makers, scanners, etc.
Obtaining and downloading device drivers from vendor websites and uploading the drivers.
Imaging workstations and laptops.
Assisting with the use of VPN software.
Wiping/sanitizing hard drives.
Troubleshooting workstation backup software problems.
Diagnosing general computer workstation and lap top problems.
Installing encryption software on laptops, instructing users in use of lap tops with encryption and self-recovery of passwords.
Qualifications

Physical activity will be required of contractor staff, including walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping and lifting 50 pounds, and adjusting the location of installed equipment.
Knowledge of the IT principles, concepts, methods, standards and practices to plan and carry out assignments; interpret procedures and guidelines; and work with users in resolving issues.
B/A or B/S Degree in related field preferred.
Prior experience with a Federal Agency, preferably the USDA.
Knowledge of the interrelationships of multiple IT specialties such as IT security concepts, systems analysis, operating systems, application software, network services, Internet, systems administration, and/or customer support.
Knowledge of PC and Mac systems, including hardware, software (both ARS developed and common commercial [COTS] type), peripheral equipment, operating systems (OS), and typical applications sufficient to instruct and advise users on systems operations, to install new software and hardware systems or system updates, and to troubleshoot and resolve (or recommend solutions to) operational problems.
Knowledge of Federal data security requirements, practices and maintenance procedures.
Ability to install and maintain Window Servers in an Active Directory environment.
Knowledge of accepted software testing procedures and skill in interpreting and reporting results of software tests and make appropriate recommendations.
Knowledge of network infrastructure devices such as Routers, Switches, and Multiplexers.
Knowledge of data communications and ability to troubleshoot and solve problems caused by an unlimited variety of software, hardware, configuration, user preference, and Internet connectivity combinations.
Communication skills to provide technical instructions and to resolve problems via telephone or remote control at remote locations throughout the BSC.
Knowledge of the principles, concepts, methods and practices in the provision of IT customer services.
