The Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (OCISO) Vulnerability Assessment & Management team has an immediate opening for an Engineer at the Experienced level, reporting to the Manager, Information Security.

In this role you will be essential to maintaining the infrastructure associated with the Federal Reserve’s security compliance assessment and reporting tool. You will perform health checks, respond to and troubleshoot self-identified and user-reported issues, and develop/maintain operational documentation; as well as provision user access in response to approved access requests. You will develop conceptual, logical, and physical IT engineering designs, that support the infrastructure requirements; and complete analysis of business requirements, as it relates to technical infrastructure design, and ensure traceability of the design to the business requirements. You will also determine testing requirements and prepare testing strategies, as well as prepare implementation and transition plans, as required for system maintenance, upgrades, and configuration changes.

The preferred location of the Engineer- Experienced is Richmond, VA, however, candidates local to other Federal Reserve Bank locations will be considered. Role is eligible for remote/telework employment*

Functional Responsibilities:

Identify and resolve moderately complex software problems affecting the security compliance assessment and reporting tool.
Test, debug, document, install and maintain moderately complex software/ enhancements to support current release levels and to meet functional requirements.
Performs change and incident management following NIT policies and procedures.
Monitor for and respond to user issues and inquiries, provision user access, and provide user instruction/training as required.
Participate in evaluating design strategies. Identify potential design problems and make recommendations for improvements. Assist with implementation of identified enhancements.
Utilize available tools for automation of manual processes.
Develop and maintains operational documentation to ensure accuracy/consistency with operational practices.
Interpret technical standards to apply programming and design techniques for the development of compliance monitoring policies.
Generate reports to satisfy audit inquiries, health check the application, and to meet metric reporting requirements.
Recommend solutions to minimize and/or prevent system interruption
May indirectly lead moderately complex projects, and participate on technical/complex projects. Provides project updates, and prepares management reports as required
Follow and ensure adherence to technical standards for programming and design techniques. Train computer operations and System technical staff on use of software /hardware tools in accordance with required standards and procedures.
Assist with monitoring compliance with internal audit requirements and Information Security Manual guidelines.
May require extended work hours. Occasional travel may be necessary (10% or less).

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (Computer Science or Cyber Security degree preferred).
3+ years of relevant work experience.
Progressive knowledge pertaining to information technology and cyber security concepts and principles.
Knowledge of and experience with support of cyber security tools, including security compliance assessment and reporting tools are desirable. Experience with/exposure to cloud services are a plus.
Knowledge of and experience with administration and support for Windows Server Operating System, including system configuration and hardening; familiarity with security benchmarks and hardening guidelines/procedures.
General knowledge of department/business lines, Reserve Banks, and / or System operations, policies, procedures and technologies preferred.
Strong interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.

The Richmond, VA hiring range for the Engineer- Experienced is $80,320 - $100,400 annually.
Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications/experience.
The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship is required.
