SUMMARY:
In support of our Department of Defense (DoD) client’s mission to provide enterprise network operations and computer network defense, the successful candidate will provide System Center support to the Enterprise Service team.
The System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) Administrator is responsible for planning, managing and maintaining the deployment of the Microsoft Systems Center products in a lab and production environment. The selectee will be responsible for creating test plans, validating solutions, providing technical support to production networks as needed, submitting change requests, and attending CAB (Change Advisory Boards).
This role also has responsibility for supporting other enterprise technologies deployed in a lab environment.
DUTIES:
Primary Duties:
Analyze Alerts and determine if the monitor is creating a valid alert or whether the alerts are noise, tune alerts to reduce noise.Push SCOM agents to all network systems, Linux, Windows, Cisco, JuniperMonitor and fix broken connectors between SCOM, SCSM, SCCM, and SCORCH.Create SCORCH runbooks or scripts to automate SCOM alert resolutions.Monitor and update SCOM software, management packs.Create dashboards using performance point and SharePoint.Create documentation for all overrides and rules, both old and new.Skills:
Perform administrative task from the Service Manager console.Perform administrative task from the Configuration Manager consolePerform administrative task from the Orchestrator Manager consolePerform administrative task from the Operations Manager consoleDevelop and execute test plans for deployed solutionsValidate patches and security policies for enterprise tools and operating systems.Grant permissions to allow responsible groups to manage resources and work queuesUtilize verbal and written communication skills to maintain accurate system documentation and provide training as required.Manage customer satisfaction through effectively communicating and managing customer expectationsQualifications
Education and Certifications:
5+ years IT work experience in a global information technology infrastructure environment.Understanding of the other System Center Products.Experience running Quest Change Auditor, RMAD, and GPOAdmin
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must Have Technical Skills:
IAT III certification (CASP+CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH)Preferred Technical Skills:
Advance knowledge of PowerShell scripting
Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL)
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services\\Datazen
Experience with major Microsoft technologies including PC and Server Operating Systems, Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, SQL Server, and Office
Knowledge of server virtualization technologies
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Contractor site with 0%-10% travel possible. Possible off-hours work to support releases and outages. General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
Strength Demands: Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles. Some occasional walking or standing may be required. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
