**Job Summary**

The primary objective of the role will be to further grow the market share of the AECOM Railway Engineering Team in Africa, through building and maintaining good regional relationships with clients, act as bid leader on key pursuits and act as Project Director or PM on larger projects. (This role with initially be in support of the Rail Market Sector Director for Africa).

In this role you would assist with the evolution of the Rail Market Sector Business Strategy for AECOM Africa.

You would Maintain close contact with key clients and actively participate in the winning of work that will contribute to a sustainable pipeline of work and support continuing growth.

Manage projects, either in the role of project director or PM, to enable technically quality, commercial and profitable delivery.

Ensure compliance with AECOM policies and procedures, as well as the maintenance of best practice, particularly those associated with risk, quality of delivery, financial management, health and safety and AECOM core values.

Ensure efficient resourcing of projects and coordinated staff deployed efficiently.

You would contribute to the development of competency and staff skills, aligned with market requirements.

Ensure an engaged, connected and motivated rail team.

* Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

* Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

* Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.

* Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

* Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

* Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.

* Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

* Prepares technical specification sections.

* Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Person Specification

**Minimum Requirements**

+ In depth knowledge of the Rail business in the region and be recognised as the local leader

+ An experienced Project Delivery Director and successful Bid Director

+ Minimum 15 years of experience in business development, preferably within a consulting environment.

+ 15+ years of experience in a leadership role focusing on Railway Engineering or a related field.

+ 10+ years of progressive responsibility in business development, rail related operations, and project or programme management.

+ Proven experience and understanding of alternative delivery methods i.e. EPCM, EPC and Design & Builda

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management or other related subject

+ RSA Professional registration

+ Appropriate registrations with internationally recognised organization in the Rail Sector
