Job Description:

This position requires the candidate to provide direct design, engineering and project management support to Navy Program Offices, COMNAVAIRLANT, NAVAIR, SPAWAR and other directorates including development of ship changes, technical feasibility studies and engineering assessments and proposals. The candidate will be in a technical position responsible for the direct oversight of a team of engineers and technical subject matter experts. This position will oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing FORD Class Hull Planning Yard (HPY) and In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) projects and processes for modernization ship changes, and serve as a HPY and ISEA technical liaison between management, engineers and designers, supporting the Carrier in-service community. This position requires broad engineering knowledge of shipboard systems and components, and strong communication skills to resolve technical issues in an Integrated Product Team environment. Continuous interaction with various Navy customers, ISEAs, technical warrant holders and internal NNS colleagues is required. Previous in-service Aircraft Carrier engineering, design, shipchecking, and program/project management experience is desired. This position requires the candidate to have a strong background in CVN78 engineering processes and products to support future business growth opportunities related to HPY / ISEA roles and responsibilities. The incumbent must possess the ability to assess project and process issues, shipboard technical inquiries and provide resolutions to meet specifications, productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.

Set goals and expectations for accomplishing ship change design, engineering tasks, and technical feasibility studies and demonstrate performance to plan

Support development and maintenance of HPY / ISEA documents, program manuals, process guides, and other configuration management periodicals

Lead and interface with functional design and engineering peers to develop Ship Change Documents (SCD), Carrier Engineering Team Actions (CETAs), implementation of 3D product model changes, responses to Technical Feedback Reports (TFBRs), and drawing development efforts

Possess an understanding of the ship modernization process with previous in-service experience

Represent HPY / ISEA at SCD meetings, design reviews, Program Reviews and other venues

Possess ability to develop and present quality presentation for a wide variety of audiences ranging from entry-level personnel to senior management

Provide HPY / ISEA technical and program support to modernization sponsors and facilitate resolution of in-service shipboard related issues
