Scope of Job : The position is responsible for managing the overall pre-construction efforts (BoP EPC strategy, costing tools and a team), day-to-day operations and deliverables of the Pre-Construction group pertaining to the BoP costs estimating, constructability review, scheduling, and coordinating of request for proposals and EPC contractor's relationship for the Grid Scale Power Group.
Responsibilities : · 25% - Collaborate with key stakeholders including, development, resources assessment, contracts management, implementation, project finance, generation, peers throughout North America, and others to determine project schedules and BoP costs estimates.
· 20% - Participate in and evaluate third-party EPC bids, key performance indicators, safety, and various other critical metrics to ensure successful a pre-construction phase.
· 20% - Maintain relationships with contractors and vendors and stay abreast of the market for related services and to accomplish pre-construction responsibilities.
· 10% - Manage the Pre-Construction team , who are responsible for performing or supporting due diligence reviews, site visits, micrositting , estimation, analysis with a specific focus on constructability for the Wind or Solar + Storage projects (costs, schedules, risks, contracting split, and market analysis).
· 5% - Deliver and present business critical reports and information to senior leadership.
· 5% - Represent EDF Renewables Inc. with key partners in business meetings and through participation in industry events and meetings.
· 5% - Establish and refine critical processes to ensure pre-construction and estimating are efficient and effective.
· 5% - Mitigate construction risk with a thorough risk analysis, creation of a mitigation plan, and through the due diligence process for all assigned projects.
· 5% - Other duties as assigned.
Supervision of Others : Supervises a team of 6 people.
Qualifications :
Education/Experience -
Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering or equivalent required. At least 10 years of relevant experience including extensive, comprehensive and diversified knowledge in construction, including knowledge of relevant codes, standards, construction practices and engineering principles required to construct a renewable energy plant.
Prior experience managing a team.
Previous experience in the energy field (solar preferred).
Extensive experience with EPC Contractors.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities -
Requires knowledge of various Microsoft programs including but not limited to Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational, interpersonal communication, leadership and management skills.
Highly motivated, self-starter, ability to work well with others and be a good team player.
Ability to effectively collaborate with geographically disperse, cross functional and various team members (i.e. engineering, construction, program management, developers, etc.)
Physical Requirements :
Ability to sit, stand, walk on uneven surfaces, visit job sites.
Working Conditions :
Approximately 75% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of database software, MS Office Suite, SAP, Tableau+, etc.), phones, and general office equipment. Approximately 25% of the time is spent in the field nationally and internationally, visiting potential and existing projects, recognizing and assessing the sites, and meeting with project team members.
