Summary:
The Library Technician provides information service such as answering questions regarding card catalogs assits in the use of bibliographic tools, such as Library of Congress Catalog. Assists groups and individuals in locating and obtaining materials, furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules and services, explains and assists in use of reference sources, such as card or book catalog, or book and periodical indexes to locate information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Provides customer service by assisting customers in identifying and acquiring materials. Performs routine cataloging of library materials. Answers routine inquires; referring all other inquiries to the Head Librarian. Verifies bibliographic information on order requests. Checks in/out items relative to specific types of material in accordance with established procedures Prepares material for delivery as specified Updates database to include information associated with the addition/deletion of publications as well as performs routine database searches. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties as assigned. May require occasional travel.

Required Skills

Qualifications - Experience, Education and Licensure:
Required:
High School education or equivalent. One year of general knowledge of routine library functions. Shall have basic knowledge of library operations and be able to perform duties such as circulation, data input, acquisition functions, and provide support to the professional staff. Secret Clearance Required. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Access database experience. Ability to perform duties such as shelf maintenance and record keeping, circulation and retrieving of material. Understands filing systems for each type of material and able to file correctly and accurately by specific numbers.

Work is typically performed in a controlled office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None Additional Qualifying Factors:
As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results. May be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Must have or be eligible for security clearances. May require occasional travel.
