Marine Mechanical / Reliability Engineer

The GBS Group, an engineering services and consulting firm, is seeking a Marine Mechanical/ Reliability Engineer join our Virginia Beach headquarters office. The GBS Group designs and delivers high technology services and solutions to most advanced naval and maritime ships, as well as to special purpose platforms and assets. Our office is located within 10 miles of the Virginia Beach resort area and the downtown Norfolk Waterfront shopping district.

The Marine/Reliability Engineer will support ship modernization and monitoring programs for US Navy, MSC and commercial vessels.

Responsibilities will include:
Drafts failure mode and effect analysis sheets or formulates mathematical models, to identify units posing excessive failure risks and support proposed changes in design. Liaise with In-Service Engineers, Technical Working Groups, industry partners and other stakeholders to conduct preliminary root cause investigation activity and identify any in-progress corrective actions. Work with technical stakeholders to develop top-level, summary, decision-quality information and materials for presentation, including results of analysis where necessary. Work with the maritime team during analysis of recent failure events and previous failure data to identify potential high priority reliability issues. Develop drawings and work specification for martime upgrades and modernizations. Review engineering specifications and drawings, proposing design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements. Basic Qualifications:
US Citizenship Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering Three or more years of experience in reliability engineering, testing or statistical analysis Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) Preferred Qualifications:
CMRP certification Experience working with advanced statistical analysis, common failure mode analysis and reliability growth modeling U. S. Navy operational and maintenance planning and execution Shipyard or Navy Repair and Maintenance Expertise in Reliability Centered Maintenance Expertise in writing failure analysis and performing root cause investigations Expertise in development of maintenance work packages based on predicted reliability analyses Experience with Naval Sea Systems Command, Original Equipment Manufacturers, In-service Engineering Support Agents, and the U. S. Navy Surface Warfare Enterprise Presentation skills to provide management, customers and vendors recommendations/suggestions of product change and/or issues Active DoD Secret Security Clearance EEO Statement
