Overview
The United States Postal Service (USPS) operates a complex logistics operation to transport mail and equipment between its mail processing and delivery facilities. While some of the local transportation service within the larger metropolitan areas is provided by postal employees, the majority of the network is serviced by highway contract suppliers. The complexity of the network requires continuous adaptations, resulting in requests for new service, or contract modifications. Transportation purchasing in the USPS environment requires technically skilled and knowledgeable personnel who specialize in the commodity, and that are well versed in procurement, contract administration, and contract law.

Responsibilities
Review service requirements to implement contractual activities that meet customer needs for services, supplies, and equipment. Interpret and explain contracts, their terms and their implications. Document terms, data and status of projects in associated systems. Negotiate and update contracts, their rates and their terms with vendors. Research and document relevant laws, technical needs and other factors. Draft, edit and verify contracts and their amendments, updating associated schedules. Interact with USPS information technology systems to conduct research and process contract activities.

Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen Able to pass a Government background check to obtain a Security Clearance Type: Public Trust Full background check including drug screening Years of experience: 0-2 Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business related discipline Contracting experience, particularly in the transportation commodity is a plus, however not required. Familiarity, with the USPS Supplying Principles and Practices and Transportation Contract Support System (TCSS) is a plus, however not required. EIS is an Equal Opportunity Employer/M/F/V/Disabled.
