The Prototype and Manufacturing Department (PMD) provides critical hardware to the fleet. PMD overhauls arresting engines and launch valves, are the sole source of supply for the cables used for aircraft arrestment (i.e., purchase cables and cross deck pendants), manufactures hardware in response to fleet emergencies, and produces a wide range of support equipment. PMD is the sole source of supply and last source of supply for critical hardware that is essential to Navy Fleet operations.
Responsibilities
This is a position with the Prototype and Manufacturing Department's Aircraft Launch and Arrested Device (ALAD) team. ALAD team members perform tasks primarily on Aircraft Launch and Arresting Devices (ALAD). This opening has a preference to applicants with Sheet Metal Fabrication experience and Welding skills. Steel toe shoes are required on the first day.
Qualifications
Must have mechanical experience and be mechanically inclined for a variety of press machines, drill presses, cutters, welding experience, fabrication experience a plus Ability to read blueprints Good math skills are required
Experience
Experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication Experience in various welding techniques, preference for those candidates certified
Security
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance level Secret
