Job Description:

Summary: Directs activities of workers concerned with installing, maintaining, and repairing industrial and commercial refrigerating systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1) Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.
2) Understands clean piping practices, i.e. purging nitrogen while brazing, using correct flux and solders, etc.
3) Able to pressure test systems and do full evacuation on small and large rack systems.
4) Ability to lay out material list for jobs and keep up on a daily/weekly basis.
5) Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to work schedules.
6) Receives and erects walk-in cooler panels and doors.
7) Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays.
8) Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within work force.
9) Confers with supervisory and engineering personnel and inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
10) Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules.
11) Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
12) Directs workers concerned with major maintenance or reconditioning projects for existing installations.

Supervisory Responsibilities - Directly supervises 6-10 employees in the Installation Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Education and/or Experience - Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or 8-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

About BRR Refrigeration

BRR Refrigeration is a commercial refrigeration and HVAC contractor focusing mainly on service and installation of supermarkets, convenience store refrigeration, and cold storage facilities. We have been in business for 20 years, employ over 60 employees, and hold mechanical licenses in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland, and Delaware. We currently provide service and installation work for Food Lion, Kroger, Harris Teeter, Wegman's, Publix, and Wawa, as well as Walmart, Costco, and NEXCOM (Navy). We are familiar with all conventional supermarket rack systems, loop piping systems, glycol systems, and cascade systems as well as different pumps including standard Copeland reciprocating, scroll, screw compressors, and open drive compressors. Our technicians have also been trained in CO­2 Refrigeration Plant for low temp operation. We have one currently in operation in Portsmouth, VA.
