Duties
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) views student interns as our future workforce. The work performed is professional in nature and in a learning environment that gives the student intern the opportunity to evaluate the work for potential long-term employment. Student employment assignments are based on the functions and tasks performed in the organization to which you are assigned and ideally related to your academic and career goals. These Student Summer 2020 full time work schedule, temporary not to exceed 89 days positions are located in various offices at the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Headquarters in Rockville, MD, Region I- King of Prussia, PA, Region II- Atlanta, GA, Region III- Lisle, IL, Region IV- Arlington, TX and the Technical Training Center (TTC)- Chattanooga, TN. These positions are Non Bargaining Unit. These positions are part of the Temporary Student Summer Program. Applications will be accepted from United States citizens who are degree seeking students enrolled at least half-time in accredited educational institutions. Half-time enrollment is defined by the educational institution. For institutions that do not have a definition of half-time, half of full-time enrollment will be considered half-time.
Qualifications
To qualify for these positions all applicants MUST have a cumulative GPA of 2.85 or higher, be enrolled in a degree seeking program in the Fall of 2019 and meet the academic criteria specified below.

Accounting (0599 job series): Accounting, Finance
Engineering (0899 job series): Nuclear, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Fire Protection, Chemical
Physical Science (1399 job series): Geology, Health Physics
Business (Graduate Students Only): MBA, Human Resources, Contract Management, International Policy, International Affairs, Public Administration, Emergency Management, Political Science
Information Technology (2299 job series): Cybersecurity, Cloud computing, Computer Science/ Information Technology
If you are an undergraduate student, your grade level will be based on the following:
• Engineering and Science GG-04 grade level (0899/1399 job series): You must be a high school graduate with 30 to 59 semester hours of college credit.
• Engineering and Science GG-05 grade level (0899/1399 job series): You must be a high school graduate with 60 to 90 or more semester hours of college credit.
• All other disciplines GG-04 grade level: You must be a high school graduate with 30 to 89 semester hours of college credit
• All other disciplines GG-05 grade level: You must be a high school graduate with 90 or more semester hours of college credit
If you are a graduate student, your grade level will be based on the following:
• GG-5 grade level: Bachelor's with a GPA of at least 2.85.
• GG-7 grade level: Bachelor's with a GPA of at least 2.95 on a 4.0 scale or completion of one full academic year of graduate level education.
• GG-09 grade level: Completion of two academic years of graduate level education or a Master's degree or equivalent.
Ideal candidates should also possess the following: Basic skills in using office automation programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point (or other desktop software programs) and effective organizational and communication skills suitable for a professional environment.
Qualifications are based on your academic standing as of the end of the 2019/2020 academic year (~May/June 2020). Transcripts (official or unofficial) are required to determine academic standing at the time of application.
You must provide a copy of your UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT with your application by the closing date of the announcement. If you fail to submit transcripts with your application by the closing date you will be considered ineligible and will no longer be considered for this vacancy. In addition to your transcripts of completed classes, you must include a listing of your CURRENT Fall 2019 classes and planned Spring 2020 class enrollment.
