Job Title: Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO), Senior, P/T

Part Time 25 – 30 hours per month
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• ISSO conducts research, develops, implements, tests and reviews organization's information security in order to protect information and prevent unauthorized access. Informs users about security measures, explains potential threats, installs security software, implements security policies and monitors networks for security issues and vulnerabilities.

• Gathers information necessary to maintain security and establish functioning external barriers, such as firewalls, DMZs, IDS/IPS and other security measures.

• Evaluates security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing protected and CUI information; performs vulnerability/risk assessment analysis to support certification and accreditation;

• Provides configuration management (CM) for information system security software, hardware, and firmware; manages changes to system and assesses the security impact of those changes; prepares and reviews documentation to include Systems Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessment Reports, Certification and Accreditation (C&A) packages, and System Requirements Traceability Matrices (SRTMs);

• Defines, creates and maintains the documentation for C&A of each information system in accordance with FISMA and NIST SP800 requirements.

• Assesses the impacts on system modifications and technological advances. Reviews systems in order to identify potential security vulnerabilities and recommends improvements to security posture and, implements changes and documents upgrades.

• Receives direction from the ISSM and government COR or PSO.
Required Skills and Experience
• Five years of comparable work experience as an ISSO.

• Security clearance: NACI (Public Trust) or Secret.

• Certified Information Systems Security Professionals (CISSP) or equivalent or DoD 8570 IAT Level-1or higher is desirable.

• Candidate must be highly analytical and effectively able to troubleshoot and prioritize needs, requirements and other issues. Aside from technical skills, prospective candidate should have excellent communications, teamwork, leadership and conflict management skills.
Education
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering from an accredited college or university
Security clearance
• NACI (Public Trust) or Secret.
Location
• Baltimore, MD;Telework is also authorized.
