SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Working with an enterprise network architecture and engineering team supporting our Federal customer, the Solutions Architect (SA) provides enterprise network engineering guidance into wireless MESH network (WMN) and Cloud specific deployment projects and application architecture. The SA / SWE is responsible for the engineering, design, test, and implementation of secure and reliable wireless network connectivity via MESH, IP and cloud services (e.g., commercial wireless, 802.11x technologies, commercial cloud services providers (CSPs), private cloud, and hybrid cloud) leveraging the current wireless network environment.
Certification Requirement: CCIE or CWNE required
Clearance Requirement: DHS clearance or Secret clearance at minimum
Position Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the support of the development of the Technical Requirements Document and a Detailed Design Document (DDD) for the Cloud Connectivity Architecture, consistent with the associated Functional Requirements Document and DDD, before transitioning to Operations. In this role, the Wireless Solutions Architect will accomplish the following:
Support of all updates to all documents when there is change in the WMN, or cloud design and/or technologies and collaborating with all stakeholders to test all WMN and cloud related systems and application migration processes to verify that the systems meet requirements and can host applications with no degradation to performance or security Preparation of test reports and Implementation Plans for each change impacting the WMN, IP or cloud network environment Support an entire wireless MESH network system engineering lifecycle Coordinate with key stakeholders to draft, link, and manage requirements for new system capabilities Produce detailed wireless MESH network system design documentation Develop testing specifications and optimize protocols aligned to requirements Design interfaces to improve user experience Develop concept of operations Identify technology use cases and associated benefits Develop test plans and test data gathering using reporting tools or query languages Interface with government clients, stakeholders, and leadership to understand requirements and communicate results Translate needs into requirements and develop concept of operations Assess effectiveness and efficiency of logistics technologies Author and publish technical data reports, white papers, proposals, status reports, and other documents Develop data-driven recommendations and present information concisely Experience building Secure Cloud Interconnect (SCI), Net bond, Direct Connect and VPN connections Cloud Networking Deploy and manage virtual servers in the Cloud Deploy and manage containers in the Cloud Deploy and manage elastic IPs and elastic network interfaces in the Cloud Deploy and manage Cloud based load balancing Research, evaluate, and recommend new cloud technologies Provides internal consulting, technical guidance, information and support to application developers, computer operations, company management and departmental clients. Assists in internal training programs Must be able to work with minimal supervision and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related degree with at least 10 years of hands-on experience in Network Design, Network Engineering, Network Operational Support (without degree and additional 4 yrs technical experience required):
Wireless MESH Networks, 802.11x and Cloud engineering experience of Medium to Large enterprise network environments: Familiarity with DHS uses of automated wireless systems and technology, including radio frequency identification (RFID) and wireless sensor MESH networks. Background in software, firmware, or hardware design and implementation. In-depth knowledge of at least one programming language. Experience with third party libraries and APIs. Knowledge of DHS information systems. Proven skills working with key stakeholders, clients and customers Significant experience in troubleshooting complex software and system issues. Advanced understanding of testing principles and methodologies, software development lifecycles & processes as well as performance, stress, and load testing methodologies. Advanced knowledge related to design, development, integration, and implementation for the following components and functions: wireless sensor MESH networks, remote monitoring capabilities, user interface design, routing protocols, data management, emissions control, cybersecurity controls, symmetric encryption key management and public key infrastructure (PKI) management. Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public and Private Cloud Azure Cloud Google Cloud Experience with Cloud Service Routers (CSRv) Experience building Secure Cloud Interconnect (SCI) Experience migrating from legacy on-prem networking to the Cloud Networking Experience with Cloud Identity and Access Management Experience deploying and managing virtual servers in the Cloud Experience deploying and managing containers in the Cloud Experience deploying and managing elastic IPs and elastic network interfaces in the Cloud Experience deploying and managing Cloud based load balancers Experience with implementing audit trails Experience with Cloud based monitoring solutions
