POSITION SUMMARY:

Protects the base populace from disease carrying insects and/or rodents and minimizes damage to structures caused by these vectors. Provides Ornamental and Turfgrass Pest Management; Industrial, Structural and Health related Pest Control, Aquatic Pest Control, and Public Health pest protection. Implements and provides oversight of the Installation Pest Management SOW, SOP and pest management plans for installation facilities and tenant units.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

Inspects and provides guidance on pest management issues to the Environmental Manager
Maintains and inventories pesticides and pest management materials
Maintains Safety Data Sheet (SDS) on pesticides and pest management materials, as appropriate
Responsible for maintaining and submitting the DD-1532-1 to the proper authority
Conducts routine and non-routine pest management inspections of facilities throughout the installation
Maintains results of inspections, associated documentation and files
Takes follow-up and corrective actions for deficiencies noted
Performs report writing, inspection documentation, and general office work
Provides work order response for the following:
Trapping and removal of feral animals
Fly surveillance
Rodent bait box and trap surveillance
Pesticide and herbicide applications
Conducts training on indigenous living hazard species for tenant units
Active member of installation spill response team
Develops and distributes pesticide application schedules in accordance with SOP, SOW, and military instructions
Performs other duties and assignments as directed

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Computer, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Forklift, Gator, Full size truck, Basic hand tools, Pesticide application equipment, Pallet jack

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Duties will involve the conduct of work in the outdoors with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions including frequent dust storms, high temperatures - up to 130 degrees in the summer months. Exposure to chemical or biological agents could exist. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in certain areas is required. They must comply with all Fire, Safety and post policies. Normal work week is 48-hours, but must be able to work overtime or nights as required; to include, holidays.

Prolonged standing
Able to wear/work in a level A protective suit and a respirator
Occasional lifting of heavy equipment not exceeding 50 Lbs


Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certifications : One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Must have a high school diploma.
Must have vast knowledge and background in IPM techniques and implementation.
HAZWOPER Train the Trainer a plus but not required.
40 Hour HAZWOPER or 8 Hour HAZWOPER Refresher (Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire)
HAZCOM (Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days of hire)
Respiratory Protection
Possess knowledge of environmental, safety and health, as well as pesticide handling and application.
Accustomed to dealing with IPM
State-Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator with sub-categories to treat the following:
Ornamental and Turfgrass Pest Management, Industrial, Institutional, Structural and Health Related Pest Control, Aquatic Pest Control, and Public Health . Additionally, the individual's certification must be authorized for the procurement and use of restricted Insecticides and Rodenticides.

Experience :

Prior military experience a plus but not mandatory
Five years of experience in pest management or a related field required

Skills :

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
Have analytical and problem-solving abilities
Be able to work with little or no supervision
Must be able to supervise the activities, and work with a multi-national and culturally diverse work force
Be able to read, interpret, and enforce company policies and military regulations
Must possess a current driver's license and be able to obtain a Qatar driver's license after arrival

SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES:
May lead a small team of technicians
