Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission. ESH invites applications for the position of the MOD Psychiatrist. This position serves as the Medical Officer of the Day ( MOD ) who is responsible for overall medical and psychiatric coverage for the facility while on duty, after hours, or on weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications
• Current, Virginia license to practice Medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Current DEA registration.
• Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and completion/enrollment of an accredited / approved Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program.
• Examine, evaluate, diagnose and treat psychiatric and mental illnesses.
• Skilled in documenting in the medical record and articulating and interacting with patients and others regarding clinical / administrative concerns or issues.
• Serve as an on-call physician when scheduled and as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with an inpatient population preferred.
