Job Description
This is a hourly position with no state benefits.

Eastern State Hospital ( ESH ), located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

ESH invites applications for the position of the part-time Clinical Social Worker.

This position will serve as the primary individual providing coverage on all Treatment Teams on the three Units (Acute, NGRI and Intermediate Care) during staff shortages (sick leave, annual leave, training, etc.) or when there is a particular demand for services due to census and acuity.
Additionally, when not covering, the role is to serve as a Clinical Social Worker on the Acute Admissions Unit and to provide assistance in the delivery of the full array of Social Work services to assist patients in their recovery, including but not limited to individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, assessments of patients, treatment planning, discharge planning, case management assessing the patient's Needs Upon Discharge to the Community and being a member of the treatment team, and serving on facility committees.

Minimum Qualifications
• Comprehensive knowledge of social work practice, substance abuse and mental illnesses.
• Experience in working with community/state agencies and their representatives.
• Knowledge of community resources and the skills to link services to meet patient needs.
• Familiarity with Substance Use Disorders and community based treatment options.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary treatment teams ensuring development, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment.
• Skilled in assessment, treatment planning and group facilitation.
• Knowledge of Recovery and patient centered principles and the ability to apply these principles in an inpatient setting.
• Valid Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Social Work preferred.
Knowledge of state and federal entitlements preferred.
Experience in utilizing community resources for the mentally ill preferred.
