Job Description
Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services ( DBHDS ) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of the Compliance Officer.
The Compliance Officer provides timely, relevant, and accurate reviews of Environment of Care Compliance at ESH , provides staff education regarding standards of practice and accrediting bodies requirements, facility policies and procedures as well as SOP's relevant to safety and environment of care. This position collects data, produces reports, analyzes data, facilitates performance improvement, and make presentations as needed. Responsible for the design and operation of the hospital safety, EOC Compliance, equipment maintenance contract, and Emergency Operations areas. Facilitates in Hospital Life Safety Code Surveys as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to utilize and interpret relevant resources including but not limited to LSC , TJC , and CMS standards.
• Ability to interpret documentation in medical records, other reports, and requirement as they relate to nursing practice and make recommendations for improvement.
• Valid Virginia Driver's license required.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus relevant trade school or college training.
• 10 or more years working in a hospital.
• 5 or more years working with FLSA requirements, Emergency Operations, Fire Safety requirements, Utilities, and buildings and grounds.
• Must be able to perform assigned duties as a productive member of the multidisciplinary team and facilitate positive relationships within the team as well as the clinical and administrative employees throughout the system.
• Effective written and oral communication skills are essential to this position.
• Must be able to positively influence the work of other team members and perform other duties as assigned effectively and efficiently.
• Must be able to represent ESH in a professional and positive manner at all times.
