Have you considered the exciting intellectual challenges of teaching high-ability undergraduate students at one of the most-selective public universities in Virginia? Christopher Newport University's College of Natural and Behavioral Sciences is accepting applications from prospective adjunct faculty members to teach individual courses, as needed, in Fall 2018 and/or Spring Semester 2019. Potential courses include:
• Introduction to Computing
• Software Packages - Business Applications (Microsoft Excel, Access)
• Introduction to Programming (Python)
• Software Engineering
• Computer Ethics (writing intensive)
Christopher Newport University is committed to excellence in teaching in a student centered, liberal arts and sciences environment. Along with demonstrated ability for excellent teaching, candidates must hold an earned graduate or terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant discipline, with 18 completed semester hours of graduate course work in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Information Science or another closely related field. Official transcripts will be required at the time of hire. Candidates for hire are required to complete a University sponsored background check.
Departmental Information
The Department of Physics, Computer Science & Engineering at Christopher Newport University is composed of 22 physicists, computer scientists, and engineers who work in a collegial atmosphere. The successful applicant will join a team of faculty that integrates high quality teaching and significant research involving undergraduates. The Department has a variety of laboratories in support of both teaching and research in high-speed data acquisition, complex data analysis and simulation, information science, remote sensor development, and multimedia graphics. Faculty Information
