Job Description:
The Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements. Works individually and as part of a team. Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolves software problem reports. Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial-Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/Government-Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams.
Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one or more teams and monitor their performance.
Oversee one or more software development teams and ensure the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project.
Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software.
Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; perform quality control on team products.
Reviews / Assists with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
Writes and reviews software and system documentation.
Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers; analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigating problem areas.
Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.

Qualifications:
Twenty (20) years software engineering experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. Seven (7)years of leading, providing technical supervision, and guiding mid-level engineering personnel; solving varied technical/scientific problems; and generating and reviewing designs for technical accuracy, completeness and appropriateness in light of objectives, budget, and schedule, four (4) years of which shall have been on government projects. Experience developing and maintaining software systems in a Windows or Linux Development Environment. Experience reviewing and testing components for software design. Experience designing, implementing, and maintaining complex database or data repository interfaces/queries. Seven (7) of years of experience integrating systems developed using agile and/or spiral development models.

Desired skills: Java, JSON, EXTJS, JQuery, JMS, SQL, XML, HTML, SQL Scripts, Web services, REST, J2EE, JMS, JavaScript, XML, Python, Perl, Swing, Hibernate, Tomcat and Glassfish experience, VMWare and Agile development experience preferred. Experience with Linux, Windows, Niagara Files, Maven, ElasticSearch, MapReduce, Pig, Python, SQL and No-SQL Databases.

Qualified applicants subject to a U.S. Government security background investigation and must meet minimum eligibility requirements for access to classified information. U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required.
