Job Description:

Correctional Officers maintain security within the Charles County Detention Center and oversee the health and safety of staff and prisoners. Physically patrol and visually inspect units, yards, buildings, prisoners, prisoner property and clothing, to ensure the welfare, safety and security.

The Corrections Division is comprised of five units: Custody and Security, Standards, Support Services, Central Processing and Inmate Services.

REQUIREMENTS:
* 18 years of age or older at time of appointment
* High School Diploma or equivalent; must be recognized by the State of Maryland,
Department of Education
* United States Citizen
* Pass written test, agility test, panel interview, intensive background investigation, polygraph,
psychological and physical examinations
* Ability to pass mandated Correctional Officer Training Academy
* Valid driver’s license
* County residency not required

Education Level:

High school or ged

Pay Rate:

$40,000 to $60,000
