Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer for Virginia and southern West Virginia is seeking a Purchasing Assistant in our Salem, Virginia headquarter office. This position will work closely with our Procurement team to best source and acquire goods and services needed throughout our facilities. Position will support operational procurement activities to include sourcing and managing vendors, purchase requisition management and assisting with corporate travel arrangements. Works closely with Accounting Department on invoice reconciliation. Seeking career minded candidates with strong work ethic and administrative skills. College degree preferred. Procurement experience a strong plus.
Self-starter able to work with limited supervision. Excellent communication and phone skills with the ability to develop strong relationships with coworkers and suppliers. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, and enjoy working with numbers Strong computer skills with high degree of knowledge with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to work overtime as required by workload.
Must meet physical requirements for the job, including the ability sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Able to lift, carry and maneuver items up to 20 pounds in weight.
