Job Description:

Overview:
ASSETT, Inc. requires a working knowledge of agile development processes, MIL STD 882E, NAVSEA SG170-BV-SAF-010, NAVSEA S9310-SV-SAF-010, the Joint Software Systems Safety Engineering Handbook (JSSSEH), and the software safety requirements identified in DNV GL IACS.

Hours: Full Time
Location: Manassas, VA

Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will apply knowledge of systems engineering practices, tools, and methodologies. Specific activities will include, but not be limited to:
Analyze and assess the problem space, decompose complex issues, and develop solutions and strategies to operational scenarios.
Develop a solution to satisfy requirements and the associated technical, cost and schedule tradeoffs.
Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications, working with other engineering disciplines to develop
lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
Assist in developing CONOPs, end-to-end system architectures, and interfaces.
Develop documentation in support of systems acquisition and development.
Manage requirements traceability and ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification
methods.
Develop test plans and procedures that meet the objectives of the contractual requirements, and participate in the testing process to validate
requirements.
Establish, maintain, and control the technical baseline, execute key technical reviews at milestones, and manage technical risks.
Interface with the customer, program manager, and development, test, and production personnel.
Create contract deliverables.
Plan tasks or projects to guide execution; address known scope, schedule, and cost constraints; anticipate risks; identify dependencies; and
leverage metrics, lessons learned and innovation.
Manage plan to meet cost, schedule and deliverable commitments.
Mentor junior engineers in systems engineering best practices.

Education and Experience:
BS in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience. Advanced Technical degree preferred. Experience with NAVSEA is highly desirable.

Qualifications:
A working understanding of the DoD systems engineering best practices and processes, and experience applying it to complex system
development.
Knowledge of systems engineering specialty principles to include requirements derivation and development, reliability, interface management and
control, test procedure development, verification testing, and metrics.
Ability to apply systems engineering expertise in support of architecture assessments, trade studies, requirements development and management,
risk management, integrated schedule assessments, acquisition and system readiness activities, integration, verification, validation and test,
and transition to operations.
Demonstrated ability to follow through and deliver on wide range of simultaneous activities.
Management of software and hardware development and integration efforts.
Knowledge of government acquisition requirements and processes.
Experience in coordinating cross-functional teams.
Proficient in the use of computers and office-related software, such as Microsoft Office products.
Knowledge of systems engineering tools, such as those used for requirements traceability and architecture modeling.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Secret or Top Secret clearance.
