SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Buyer is responsible for purchasing goods to support external and internal customers. This position requires a results oriented individual who works independently with minimal supervision. This position reports directly to the Purchasing Manager.
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (salaried)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review Purchase Requisitions for accuracy and completeness. Solicit bids, evaluate quotations, and make supplier selections. Assist with Supplier relations, including submission of Phoenix credit information, establishing a supplier record in the database, qualifying suppliers, negotiating with suppliers, collecting various types of data from suppliers, and etc. Issue Purchase Orders. Maintain Purchase Order files in accordance withCPSR audit requirements. Conduct product and supplier research with assistance from technical staff. Perform expediting functions. Create and submits reports for review by various managers. Create reports to manage procurement functions. JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 2 years of experience in Purchasing. Ability to demonstrate an above average aptitude to handle administrative tasks. Working knowledge of supplier buyer relationships. Detail oriented and focused on accuracy. Understanding of basic contract law and legal documents. Basic understanding of procurement and related law: FAR, DFAR and UCC desired. Experience in the undersea industry desired. Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and math skills. Ability to meet critical deadlines and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Computer skills with competence in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Access and Excel. At least 35 wpm keyboarding skills. Must have superior comprehension skills. May be required to travel within the United States.
