Technical Writer

Position Summary:

You will provide technical writing support to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) Chief Information Office's (CIO). The effort includes preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation. This work is located one of multiple government facilities located in the DC area.

Contract Requirements: Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance Must be IAT Level II compliant (Security+ or equivalent) Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Responsible for the preparation, review, revision, and maintenance of technical documents including software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation Write and edit technical documentation for all of the project's hardware and software to include installation, configuration and how-to documentation Create code documentation for software Produce implementation guides and end-user guides for capabilities Provide field, data definition, and data flow documentation Format technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and consultations with technical personnel and other available resources Required Education, Skills, and Experience: Bachelor's degree required. Two (2) years' experience as a Technical Writer. Preferred Skills and Experience: (this is optional) More than Two (2) years' experience as a Technical Writer Experience as a project leader for projects with complex or voluminous documentation providing or coordinating special documentation services as required Physical Demands and Expectations: Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing; occasional prolonged sitting Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment This position description represents a summary of the major components and requirements of the outlined job.
