Job Description

Crown has an opening for an Energy Survey Analyst II with excellent quantitative, analytical and communication skills to support complex survey and data collection, analysis of data, and generation of survey reports. The candidate will assist in the analysis of energy data as part of monthly, weekly, and annual national energy surveys supporting the Department of Energy, Energy Information Administration. This opportunity is conveniently located near the L'Enfant Plaza or Smithsonian Metro Stations.

Energy Analyst II duties include:
Researching root causes of industry and statistical anomalies.Reviewing the accuracy of energy industry data.Contributing insight on energy market and policy trends.Identifying errors or inconsistencies and presenting them to team lead or client.Assisting in resolving long term/systemic data problems.Monitoring the resolution of issues until their completion.Corresponding with industry participants to resolve data anomalies.Participating in ad hoc analytical projects, e.g., impacts of survey changes.Developing tools or procedures to assist in data validation and analysis of data trends.Identifying and supporting process improvements.
Qualifications

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (energy policy, engineering, economics, mathematics, statistics, accounting) plus 2-5 years of professional experience in the energy industry, statistical analysis, economic analysis, accounting, and/or business consulting, or a master's degree in any of the above fields plus 1 year of experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience reviewing data and information, solving problems, and delivering products and services in a professional environment.High proficiency with MS Excel and Access (e.g. creating pivot tables, using lookup functions and building queries). Demonstrated willingness to take the initiative on long-term projects, and can efficiently and effectively manage those projects from beginning to end. Experience working with industry participants to clarify issues and improve data quality.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Focused, organized, and detail-oriented with a strong ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast- paced atmosphere.Ability to absorb and convey industry knowledge quickly, and have a strong desire to learn about energy-related issues.Quick learner with a strong desire to convey new ideas and concepts.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with the various participants on a government contract including other contractors, other task personnel, and government counterparts.Strong interpersonal skills, must be able to deliver complex, data derived arguments to a range of audiences, both orally and written often with preparation and extemporaneously.Excellent oral and written communications skills.
DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Professional experience in the commercial electric sector, power markets or other energy industries.Knowledge and experience in the areas of energy market analysis, energy policy research, large-scale statistical surveys, data manipulation, and service and product dissemination.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be U.S. citizen and must be clearable for a Public Trust position.
