Job Description

Crown has an opening for a Senior Software Engineer. The selected candidate will be a key member of the Dynamic Rerouting Around Weather (DRAW) team. Today's air traffic management (ATM) system is evolving into a more demanding and complex airspace environment than when it was first designed. As air traffic demand continues to grow, it is projected that there will be increases in terms of passenger delays, impact to the environment, and costs to the airlines, as well as higher and more complex workload demands to air traffic service providers. Consequently, ATM researchers and service providers must find ways to increase airspace capacity and flexibility. The DRAW Tool equips ATM researchers and service providers with a way to explore, develop and evaluate advanced air transportation concepts before they are field-tested and eventually deployed.

The successful candidate will be required to:
Provide on-site support to the Airspace Systems Division (Code AF) in the development, integration, and test of software and algorithms for the DRAW system.Adhere to established software development processes, utilizing incident tracing and configuration management systems.Come up to speed on existing legacy C/C++ and Java software for DRAW.Develop new interfaces and systems for the DRAW application.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Masters degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aeronautics or a related scientific discipline and 2 years of substantial relevant experience, or Bachelors degree in one of the disciplines noted above and at least 5 years of relevant experience.Demonstrated experience in C/C++ and Java.Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to customers and team members.Experience with full software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, including Integrated Development Environments (IDEs), debuggers, source control and bug tracking systems.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Working knowledge of Eclipse IDEs, Git version control systems, JIRA issue tracking software, and database management systems.Experience with scripting languages such as Unix shells, Perl and Python is a plus.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be U.S. citizen and must be clearable for a Public Trust position.
