Responsibilities
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Are you ready to focus on technology and make a real impact for your customers' most challenging software problems? Aerospace is looking for a Mid Lievel Engineering Manager to join our growing Ground & Computer Technologies department (GCT) in the corporation's East Coast center of software systems expertise. Some of the activities of Aerospace's GCT department comprises a diverse set of highly respected engineers and scientists who provide computer science/computer engineering support to space, ground and launch programs in the commercial, civil, and national security domains.

KEY FUNCTIONS
Assists the Department Director in creating and maintaining a forward thinking technical vision and strategic plan for the department. Leads and supervises section staff. Works closely with program office to evaluate and develop investigative techniques and application tools; interfaces and develops technical objectives with program office and customers. Coordinates overall preparation and presentation of technical reports, briefings, and analyses prepared by section, as well as for periodic briefings to management and other groups. Provides guidance for professional growth of section staff. Provides engineering support to multiple program offices for the acquisition, operation and evaluation of ground system architectures, distributed computer systems and national space systems. Provides technical and programmatic support in the architecting, development, testing, and integration of all ground system aspects of current and planned space systems to include hardware, software, communication and other interfaces Provides focused support on technical areas that include cloud, virtualization,and data engineering, among others. Maintains current technical excellence through participation in advanced technology studies, system/software analyses, independent assessments, and research efforts: e.g. analysis of system/software architectures and frameworks; comparison of engineering tools and environments; and experimentation with new/emerging techniques and methods. Provides experience and expertise in software engineering and large team-based software development (all phases of software development).

Qualifications
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering,Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an appropriate technical discipline from a recognized institution
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A desire to lead, manage and develop an agile engineering staff that knows and continuously delivers current and evolving advanced technology to our program office customers; Minimum of eight years of progressively relevant, responsible, professional engineering/scientific experience Solid knowledge of the ground elements of space systems or intelligence systems, familiarity with ground system and enterprise architecture trades, and experience in large-scale systems acquisition, engineering, or integration activities Experience and expertise in software engineering and large team-based software development (all phases of software development) Abile to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of customers' and corporate staff Highly motivated. Able to work well collaboratively or independently, as each task requires. Able to adapt to a customer's evolving needs Excellent communication skills Current TS/SCI clearance This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or other engineering/analytical degree Experience with application service provider/infrastructure service provider (ASP/ISP) software service architectures Experience working with Ground Engineering projects like mobile computing, cloud computing, command and control frameworks Experience working with government acquisition
