A trusted partner. A national resource. A leader in national security space. We are THE Aerospace Corporation.  A team that takes pride in our readiness to solve some of the most complex technical challenges in existence. With challenges spanning clandestine to commercial, you'll have the unique opportunity to work on projects that are literally evolving our nation's space and launch capabilities. We all share a common passion and aspiration - to serve a mission much bigger than ourselves.  When you join our team, you'll be part of a rare collection of thought leaders and game-changing innovators.  Are you ready to launch your career?
Responsibilities
Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is gaining acceptance as a preferred approach to systems engineering for space system architects and engineers, both in industry and government. To meet the increasing demand for MBSE related support, the MBSE Office's goal is to integrate corporate system modeling capabilities to provide space systems engineering analysis, education, and support to our government customers and fellow employees. One of the key capabilities of the office is the Concept Design Center (CDC), which is an internationally recognized center of excellence in collaborative, concurrent design of space and ground systems that draws on technical experts from across Aerospace. The CDC uses a concurrent engineering method and analytical models to estimate system performance and life cycle cost. The systems engineer in this position will be instrumental in achieving MBSEO goals by developing and implementing MBSE approaches for new and existing space systems, advising government customers on the use and implementation of SysML models, and training others inside and outside the corporation on MBSE tools, languages and methods. Additionally, the person in this position will help manage (or manage if qualified at the higher level) our CDC to perform space system trade studies and concept designs.

Key Functions
Develop and evaluate SysML models to support customers that develop and operate space systems. Space systems are defined at all levels; enterprise, architecture, vehicle, and even payload levels. Assist in management of a Concept Design Center (or manage multiple sites if qualified at the higher level) that provide(s) a capability to rapidly create and analyze space system concept designs. This includes leading CDC tool development activities and implementing quality standards. Train other members of Aerospace technical staff, program office staff and government customers on MBSE. Infuse MBSE practices into our own AeroCube CubeSat program and advise our customers on how to implement MBSE in their own programs. Advise systems engineers and government program offices on the selection and use of common MBSE tools. Share lessons learned and best practices across the MBSE community (conferences, papers, etc.). Mentor junior staff to become MBSE representatives in their own Aerospace organizations.
