Full time contractor support needed for code 254. This tasking is to assist Norfolk Naval Shipyard Engineering and Planning Department Code 254 General Arrangements with Planning Yard duties. GENERAL DUTIES:
The contractor must be able to work independently with the development of drawings and calculations MINIMUM SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Contractor shall ensure modifications/modernization to all systems, equipment and furnishings, on all Ships under the cognizance of NAVSHIPYD Norfolk, Code 254, are within parameter of approved configuration change, ensuring compliance is maintained with design requirements, and verify that class configuration is maintained to the maximum extent practical. Contractor shall determine if similar modification/modernization has been accomplished on previous ship(s) and provide data to Engineering Configuration Manager (ECM) so that it is a Preliminary Configuration Data (PCD) to the Execution Yard for Ship Change Document (SCD) plan development. Contractor shall perform and review engineering calculations for strength, stress, weight and other factors. This includes shock analysis. Contractor shall interface between different technical disciplines to ensure complete integration of various systems. Contractor shall determine if similar modification/modernization has been accomplished on previous ship(s) and provide data to Engineering Configuration Manager (ECM) so that it is a Preliminary Configuration Data (PCD) to the Execution Yard for Ship Change Document (SCD) plan development of. Contractor shall assist with the development of Ships Change Documents (SCD's). Contractor shall analyze data and determine best arrangement/design reflecting efficiency, economy, functionality, aesthetics and ergonomics in addition to basic shipboard requirements. Contractor shall develop engineering drawings using AutoCAD. Drawing must be technically complete and accurate and should be ready for issue with a minimum of Government review. Contractor developed drawings shall conform to I.D.E.A. (Planning Yard) CAD Standards. Contractor developed drawings shall conform to Intelligent Ship Installation Drawing (ISID) AutoCAD Module template 1.1 or greater requirements. Content on Contractor developed drawings shall be logically organized. Contractor developed drawings shall be in accordance with GSO, NSTM, OPNAV and NAVSHIPYD Norfolk requirements. Contractor developed drawings shall completely and efficiently accomplish the intent of the applicable SAR/SCD. Contractor developed drawings shall include required Weight and Moment data. Contractor developed drawings shall adequately address shock requirements. Contractor developed drawings shall be of such quality that RPPY/PPEA concur with minimum number of comments. Contractor developed drawings shall adequately address required safety and environments considerations. Contractor developed drawings shall accurately depict arrangement, location and clearance requirements of equipment, furnishings and interferences. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The contractor shall have experience and knowledge in the following: Familiar with Auto Cad for drawing development. Familiar with ISID Program. Writing interoffice correspondence (memos, letter, and reports). Familiar with shipyard, local and NAVSEA processes and instructions. Knowledge of material ordering from Navy Stock System using mil-spec ordering data. Knowledge of commercial specifications (ANSI, ASTM, AISI) and Military Specifications. Familiar with Level I per NAVSEA T/M 0948-LP-045-7010 Material Control Standard Non- nuclear. Knowledge of cognizant components and associated equipment (i.e. Hand Rails, lifting pad eyes, Boat Davits, Mainmasts, antenna platforms, exterior foundations, encapsulated life rafts & foundations, RAS & FAS equipment and foundations, etc) The contractor shall have experience with drawing development on the following NAVSHIPYD Norfolk, Code 254 lead code SAR/SCD The contractor needs to have access to classified NNPI material. The contractor shall have experience and knowledge in the following: Read and interpret SHIPALT proposals and SHIPALT records. Read and interpret Ships Installation Drawings (SID) Familiar with AutoCAD and Intergraph for drawing development. Writing interoffice correspondence (memos, letter, and reports). Familiar with shipyard, local and NAVSEA processes and instructions. Familiar with NSTM CHAPTER 096 and CHAPTER 997
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:
Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
CARRYING and LIFTING. Ability to transport and lift up to 30 lbs. Employee may access remote areas of multi-level vessels Must comply with Company's Driver Safety Policy if assigned to operate company and/or rental vehicles
