Job Description:

TASK DESCRIPTION
(DOL 23183) Electronics Technician Maintenance III. The Contractor shall provide personnel with the appropriate knowledge, skills, experience and certifications to perform duties of an Electronics Technician II in addition to performing additional tasks at an advanced level. The Contractor shall assist electronics technicians in the fabrication, overhaul, modification, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of complete electronic systems, subsystems, components, and instruments. Performs more routine tasks such as removing and replacing defective parts and assemblies identified by more experienced electronics technicians. May be required to provide technical assistance to Electronics Technician I & II employees. The Contractor shall apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems involving fabrication, overhaul, modification, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic devices and equipment. Must have a high level of knowledge of electrical and electronic theory as well as operating electronic principles such as microminiaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, tube circuits, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification. Provide quality testing, troubleshooting, inspection, repair, soldering, modification, replacement of aircraft electrical components, systems, test stands, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs) and Shop Repairable Units (SRUs). The Contractor shall work with assets associated with various aircraft avionic electronics, weapons system electronics on a variety of aircraft. Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems involving fabrication, overhaul, modification, installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic devices and equipment. Must have a high level of knowledge of electrical and electronic theory as well as operating electronic principles such as microminiaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, tube circuits, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification. Be knowledgeable in the operation of Automated Test Equipment (ATEs) and Interface Test Adapter (ITAs), repair of ITAs. ATEs include but are limited to Rackmount Improved Avionics Intermediate Shop (R-IAIS), Avionics Intermediate Shop (AIS), Digital Analog Test System (DATS), F16 Analog Test Station Sustainment System (FATSS), Lockheed Martin STAR (LMSTAR), Common Bench-top Automatic Tester System (CBATS), Bench-top Reconfigurable Automatic Tester (BRAT), and Ball Grid Array (BGA) Solder Station. Select and load test programs for units under test, select appropriate interface device, connect required simulation and measurement blocks, hook up units under test and run test procedures. The Contractor shall: use various instruments to isolate component defects that the ATE cannot detect; evaluate fault reports to determine if an item should be returned to repair or if repair can be made personally; retest all items after repairs are completed to ensure that they can pass the diagnostic test without error. Assist engineering personnel in developing, debugging, or modifying diagnostic programs by investigating and identifying contradictions between test specifications or test requirement documents and test programs, and recommend changes where necessary. Assist in determining Software Deficiency Reports (SDRs), identifying that the software is not checking circuitry correctly and assist engineering in correcting software problems. Be solder certified for repair down to component level of LRUs and SRUs, perform high reliability soldering, micro miniature soldering if required. Perform the following: in/out processing of LRUs and SRUs; visual inspections; inductions/inputs into required systems; and fill out appropriate condition code tags for turn-in items. Perform duties associated with repair of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) including but limited to cleaning electronic boards, SRUs, and components, coating and bonding of SRUs, stripping, painting and buffing of SRUs and media bead blast (walnut blaster) as required. Remove thermal coating on CCAs using proper media blasters and chemical dunk tanks. Contractors shall mask or tape contact leads, terminals and plugs prior to applying thermal coating. Contractors shall paint or thermal coat CCAs. Perform visual inspection, operational checks, disassembly and reassembly associated with ATE, record damage associated with ATE. Contractor shall perform 7- and 30-day inspection and cleaning maintenance on test stations. Perform LRU/SRU initial functional test, troubleshoot LRU/SRU, isolate/repair LRU/SRU malfunctions, and LRU/SRU final functional tests. Perform alignments, reseats, adjustments and inputs associated with CCAs, cables, ITAs, ATEs and electronic equipment. Determine signal paths with use of schematics, waveforms, pulses, make measurements using handheld and external equipment such as oscilloscopes, tracers, trackers, etc. Disassemble and reassemble LRUs, follow torque requirements in assembly, and perform cleaning and final inspection. Perform station calibrations on power meters, cables, and power sensors. Perform operational assurance and fault isolation of test stations, perform station confidence checks and station diagnostic programs. Be responsible for mounting LRU/SRU into proper holding fixtures. Skill required - (DOL 23183) Electronics Technician Maintenance III.

TASK REQUIREMENTS
Performs duties of an Electronics Technician II in addition to performing additional tasks at an advanced level of Electronics Technician III. Performs duties as outlined in job task description in accordance with (IAW) Performance Work Statement (PWS) and DOL Skill (23183) requirements. Performs operational and maintenance record keeping associated with aircraft or aircraft component maintenance and repair using both manual and automated methods. Documents all work done on aircraft components and ensures that aircraft or applicable maintenance records are completed IAW local directives. Follows all specified directives for closing out work cards and completing WCDs. Follows all technical, quality, and safety guidelines in performance of their duties. Performs clean-up duties, such as cleaning equipment, sweeping, straightening, and inventory of tools, account for tools and other property in the assigned area at the end of the shift or more frequently as required to perform tasks. Complies with all general housekeeping requirements for the production areas, IAW 29 CFR 1910 and AFI 21-102, AFMC Supplement 1, and 309 EMXG OI 91-301 Housekeeping Maintenance Procedures, as applicable. Performs other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED PERSONNEL QUALIFICATIONS
Ten (10) years or more advance level work experience in the field of electronic component depot level maintenance, modification, repair and overhaul with five (5) or more years supporting the following Air Force aircraft: A-10, F-16, F-15, E-3, B-52, F-22, C-17, F-18, F-35, C-130, KC-135, T-38, B-1, B-2, C-5. Secret security clearance.
MINIMUM (BASIC) QUALIFICATIONS
Employees shall possess required training, qualifications, proficiency, and security clearances and satisfy all other access requirements prior to commencement of work, to include favorable Local File Check, favorable fingerprint, and submitted NACI or interim/current Secret clearance prior to attending Contractor New Hire Training. Employees must have appropriate knowledge, skills, experience and certifications to perform duties of an Electronics Technician II in addition to performing additional tasks at an advanced level. All Contractor employees must be physically capable to perform all required tasks according to the PWS job description.
