The U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) was organized on Jan 1, 1977. Headquartered in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, with 17,500 Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians and contractors, located at 180 locations in 45 countries, Intelligence and Security Command executes mission command of operational intelligence and security forces; conducts and synchronizes worldwide multi-discipline and all-source intelligence and security operations; delivers linguist support and intelligence-related advanced skills training, acquisition support, logistics, communications and other specialized capabilities in support of Army, Joint, and Coalition Commands and the U.S. Intelligence Community.

Today, Department of the Army Civilian Service is the largest and busiest within the Department of Defense. Army civilians are dedicated, experienced, and committed to serving the nation. Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission by providing the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. We are an integral part of the Army team providing mission-essential support to the Soldier. We are federal civil servants and we are committed to selfless service in the performance of our duties in support of our nation.
