Description:

Primary responsibility for conceiving and developing new signal collection solutions in a Matlab environment, including developing end-to-end signal environment simulations, and associated algorithms and processing to detect, identify, geolocate, copy, and demodulate signals-of-interest.

Candidate will function as lead algorithm engineer on one or more specific technology development thrusts.  Candidate will work in a collaborative environment with other algorithm engineers and will have access to an existing algorithm toolbox from which candidate may draw elements of the simulation and overall solution, making modifications as needed.

Areas of development include algorithms and signal processing for signal detection, identification, co-channel separation by adaptive beamforming, copy, DF, and geolocation. Most work will be performed in Matlab, to develop, test, and refine algorithms through Monte Carlo simulation and subsequently on real data.

Customer interaction will also be required, including composing and presenting briefings and reports as program deliverables, and supporting marketing and proposal efforts.  The position will also require interaction with system and software engineering to successfully migrate new algorithms and methods into existing collection systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • MSEE in electrical engineering with emphasis in areas related to modern communications signals and adaptive antenna arrays, plus at least 12 years experience.
  • A good grasp of fundamentals in the areas of statistics, signal modulations, and adaptive beamforming is required.
  • Candidate must be adept at conceiving, prototyping, testing and refining algorithms and DSP in Matlab.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills, and experience developing briefings, white papers, and proposals.
  • Must have significant expertise and experience in the area of modern signals (3G cellular, WiFi, and Wimax).
  • Work experience must show solid and practical contributions in one or more of the cited areas of expertise.

Other Requirements:
  • Experience developing algorithms for the reception and demodulation of modern signals.
  • Ability to formulate high-level concepts-of-operation (CONOPs) as well as developing detailed algorithm solutions.  Real-time DSP coding experience also a plus.
  • US Citizenship is required for purposes of obtaining/maintaining a US government security clearance.  A current TS/SCI clearance is required for this position.
