Creates and maintains an environment supportive o innovation, systematic inquiry, the generation of knowledge, and the dissemination of research findings amongst healthcare providers.

Essential Functions:

- Assist the CSA in redesigning patient care systems and processes, based on scientific research, that optimize patient outcomes, care quality, and resource utilization.
- Redesigns and implements nursing processes and patient care processes within the CSA to reduce the amount of time spent by RNs and other caregivers on logistical, non-patient care related activities.
- Redesigns identified patient care systems and processes.
- Conducts health services research to measure the cost, quality, and patient outcomes related to healthcare delivery.
- Provides leadership and supervision for the development of Clinical Nurse Specialists, whose role is that of clinical change agents across the continuum. Develops strategy to work with CNA, Local 250, and the medical staff in changing patient care practices. Communicates with key players and stake holders to obtain support for changes initiatives and to obtain consensus when possible.
- Meets target dates for implementation schedules. Assesses caregiver skills and develops training programs for successful initiative implementation.
- Responsible for managing and implementing projects in conjunction with TPMG leadership to achieve utilization targets and improved patient services across the continuum of care. Works with the Quality Outcomes Leader and Patient Care Leader to determine quality indicators for patient care services.

Basic Qualifications:
Experience
- Minimum ten (10) years of experence in clinical, management, education and research roles in a multifacted health care system, multi-service provided setting required.
- Minimum six (6) months of teaching experience in research, quality or performance improvement related areas required.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience conducting independent qualitative research and including presentation of research findings in an APA journal and conference.
Education
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Ph.D. in a health care related science.
License, Certification, Registration
- Current CA RN license required.

Additional Requirements:
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of multivariate and univariate, quantitative and qualitative statistical applications, including using a statistical software package.
- Must have a thorough working knowledge of quality control methods in data analysis.
- Must have strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Must work in a Labor Management Partnership.
